I’ve long been a fan of these hard-to-find and (up until recently) out-of-print jams from the legendary Detroit R&B trio The Jones Girls, whose work as backup singers for greats like Teddy Pendergrass and Lou Rawls bolstered “The Sound of Philadelphia”. The album, featuring production from Keni Burke, Dexter Wansel and Gamble & Huff, wasn’t the group’s most successful outing, peaking at number 201 on the U.S. Billboard Charts. Nonetheless, I love it and I hope you will, too.
