If you were one of DJ AM’s millions of fans, there was no way to think of him without recognizing his public appeals regarding his personal struggles with addiction. At the height of his fame as DJ, Adam Goldstein was irrepressible and tireless in his quest to help those suffering from addiction, through both financial contributions and personal counseling of those seeking to conquer their addiction and alcoholism. His death at the hands of drugs coincided with the completion of his impassioned MTV reality show Gone Too Far, which began airing on Thursday nights this past October.
But one other thing you knew full well was his passion for his sneaker collection. DJ AM was the truest of heads when it came to fresh kicks, and he had thousands of pairs. In fact, he had so many pairs in his collection that he never wore them all. Continue reading this after the jump. MORE »

Those wonderful Dutch ghettotechin’ blip wizardy-wizards in Le Le hit us up today with a perfect hot mess — remixes of a track called “Disco Monster” from their last EP, Marble. Le Le’s super-human electro-insanities and skin-tight grooves can be heard in mixes from Erol Alkan, Busy P, DJ Medhi, and a whole mess of other floor traffic controllers the world over.
If you can get your hands on a copy of this on vinyl, you should: it comes packed in the Parra-designed original sleeve you see above — wait, did you just ask me “Who’s Parra?” Uh, you don’t know? Time to get familiar, since he’s designed stuff for like um.. Nike, Converse, Vans, Etnies, and his art is blowing up in Paris, Berlin and New York. But yeah, okay. Back to the music. Just….enjoy, then, these remixes of “Disco Monster”, and blow them up wherever you may spin.

Starting this Thursday, November 5th through November 15th, Saucony Originals will be auctioning off a sneaker signed by more than fifty of indie music’s favorite artists on eBay’s charity auction house MissionFish.org. Proceeds will benefit Saucony’s Run for Good Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to combating childhood obesity.
Shoe stampers include Yo La Tengo, The Walkmen, The National, Jesus Lizard, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, M83, Frightened Rabbit, Pharoahe Monch, Killer Whales, and a slew of who’s who artists on the indie music stage. Signatures were collected on a size 15 Saucony Originals Jazz sneaker this past summer while Saucony Originals was helping Pitchfork Music Festival revelers set any world record they wanted with the Universal Record Database.

It’s been a very busy and awe-inspiring year for A-Trak. Looking at the whole picture, he’s worn the hat of DJ, mixer, arranger, producer, record label magnate and you know…what can I say? The man has really stepped up his game to another level. Even with so much on his plate, he appears to be taking it all in stride. If you read this blog with any frequency, you already know we tend to dote on A-Trak pretty heavily around here because, well….I mean, skillz. He’s got mad skillz. Respect.
So we had to let y’all know: his website is up and crackin’, he’s got the blog going, and he will likely hip you to content you’re not going to find anywhere else on the web. Suggest you take a trip over to http://djatrak.com and see what he’s putting out there for y’all. He’s also doing guest postings at The FADER blog from time to time, so be sure and keep an eye on the haps over there, too. Hey! He’s even giving away a fresh pair of Fool’s Gold limited-edition Nike Air Max’s too!
Now I gotta go figure out how I’m getting to Mississippi tomorrow. Y’all be good.
I guess I don’t know enough about The Cool Kids other than I know that The Bake Sale is stupid tight, my boys in Lord T & Eloise stupid love them, the rhymes I hear them drop are stupid fresh and this mixtape entitled “That’s Stupid (The Mixtape)” is right banging.
Go grab this shit while you can. Somewhere in these six songs, you might just get silly, stupid dumb — just make sure that girl ain’t no bum.

So I’m not a metal head. I’m not even a fashion junkie, really. But I have this overwhelming problem: I’m a fking Nike head to the extreme. I have a shoe problem that goes far beyond anything rational or reasonable. When I saw these joints, I almost had a heart attack. The new Nike Metal pack is coming out on June 14th and I gots to have these. Sad to say, they’ll initially only be available from Atmos in Tokyo — however, according to CrownDozen, they’ll be part of Nike’s Fall ‘08 collection and won’t be strictly limited edition.
So remember me when you’re out buying these and send me a pair of the Vandals, wouldja? I’m a Size 12 for the record. I’ll hook you up, dudes, I swear! A couple more pictures after the jump.
