A quick recap of Thursday night's festivities included well-attended (and well loved) shows from The Black Angels and Cincinatti's The National . In between rock and roll, we had the good fortune to get some serious laughter at the nicely-air conditioned comedy tent where several thousand (yes, like three thousand probably?) people stood in long lines to see Lewis Black & Friends (featuring John Bowman, Finesse Mitchell and Lynne Koplitz) and David Cross, comedy blogebrity (and real life celebrity as well) Aziz Ansari, and Nick Kroll. I feel like I have already been here forever, but the festival has barely begun. Getting to the show early has given me the opportunity to explore around one of the most mesmerizing aspects of Bonnaroo: the tent city.
This year the festival has split several areas of the tent camping area into "pods" all of which contain collaborative art done by festival attendees. One of the coolest things I have encountered thus far, are large chain fences stuffed with colored water bottles, all of which is designed to be lit up like a giant lite bright. ...
We just received notice that the last few tickets for Bonnaroo are almost gone. An announcement is expected shortly that the festival has been sold out completely. We will keep you updated.
One of the first things that you notice about this festival is that there are just so damned many people crammed into a tiny space. It's seemingly relatively peaceful, save for the fireworks going off all night in the campground. We managed to get here about 10 hours earlier than the festival opened, so Nathan and I definitely got to see the crazy side of the event up close and personal.
