(Big ups @DISCOATTACK for the heads-up)

I guess we’re going to start off this Music Monday with a sweet electro track from the remix team of Luca C & Brigante. The remix of Ali Love’s new single, “Diminishing Returns” (which is out in limited release) comes from his debut album, due in 2010. You may not know Ali Love off the bat, but if you heard the Chemical Brothers’ smash “Do It Again”, you’ve definitely heard his pipes. Enjoy this free track & LETS GO.

Those wonderful Dutch ghettotechin’ blip wizardy-wizards in Le Le hit us up today with a perfect hot mess — remixes of a track called “Disco Monster” from their last EP, Marble. Le Le’s super-human electro-insanities and skin-tight grooves can be heard in mixes from Erol Alkan, Busy P, DJ Medhi, and a whole mess of other floor traffic controllers the world over.
If you can get your hands on a copy of this on vinyl, you should: it comes packed in the Parra-designed original sleeve you see above — wait, did you just ask me “Who’s Parra?” Uh, you don’t know? Time to get familiar, since he’s designed stuff for like um.. Nike, Converse, Vans, Etnies, and his art is blowing up in Paris, Berlin and New York. But yeah, okay. Back to the music. Just….enjoy, then, these remixes of “Disco Monster”, and blow them up wherever you may spin.

I don’t know anything at all about O’Spada, but I intend to find out more. The Stockholm act’s soulful funk, reminiscent of Prince, Rick James’ production style or the Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis grooves of the 80’s, is getting some heavy attention and rotation. Apparently their last single “Time” got out in the world and received some praise and attention from THE FADER, Monocle, BBC Radio One’s DJ Annie Mac, and they’ve been Band of the Day in The Guardian.
Check out this new track, “Ten Strikes”. We’re digging its distinctly 80’s retro-electro feel, and it’s purposeful similarity to Teena Marie, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam and Janet Jackson is off the hook. Get this, do it now.
Respect @Ninjasonik for his take on this Major Lazer jawn. This track is officially bumping out frames at the Loudersoft crib. ENJOY!

Well how are you doing, my brethren? Some of you already know I’ve been battling a series of health problems the last few months which have kept me from updating regularly. What can I say, I got a bit unlucky on the health front.
But enough about me, let’s talk about a major day in the world of funk freakitude: today marks the reissue of Betty Davis’s oft-bootlegged 1975 funk gem Nasty Gal alongside her previously-unreleased phantasm of funk, Is It Love or Desire?. Nasty Gal is an essential funk recording, once only traded as an 8th or 9th-generation copy (complete with tape hiss and fuzz) amongst hard-core diggers, while Is It Love or Desire? was never released, shelved by her label due to creative differences. Thanks to the hard-work of Light in the Attic Records, both are now officially out and ready to add to your collection. More information, an MP3, and details on how you can win the above limited-edition poster after the jump.

The band Casxio come from Los Angeles and are being hailed as “a little bit more than just the latest band to jump into the dance-music pool” by the LA Times.
That’s high praise coming from a city which was once fueled by the disco it helped to create. Enjoy this track, “Seventeen”, then go check them out at SXSW (where they have several appearances).
Casxio will be appearing March 18, 19, 20 & 21st at SXSW. Check schedule for times/details.
