The last seven days have felt like an eternity while I sat here and coughed up a lung. If not for getting addicted to Lost (thanks to some of my good blogger universe friends, you have ruined me for life), I would have never gotten out of bed. Just as consumption was taking over my body, I found it within my power to get up long enough to check out some tracks that ended up on my virtual desk. I see no reason not to share with you, for this music will relax bronchial tubes and restore free breathing in as fast as fifteen minutes.*
Mickey Avalon, it is well-known around these parts, is a beloved member of the Loudersoft inner-circle — a man who has fought off homelessness, addiction, and “selling cock for rock” to become one of the more novel of rap’s novelty act legacies. Pairing up with aristocrunk jet-setters Lord T & Eloise for a show at Young Avenue Deli on Thursday, there’s little reason for you to not be in attendance. You never know what will happen next.

It’s about damn time the new Sa-Ra Creative Partners disc hit my desk!! I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited to peep this junt, and well worth the wait it has been. The Hollywood Recordings is their maiden voyage on Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint and, truth be told, it’s the space adventure that your people never told you about but you’re glad you caught the groove. It keeps that deep soul vibration that Sa-Ra is known for blended with just the right amount of hip-hop vibe into a mixture that is unique to this partnership and could never be imitated with any kind of justice. Peep for yourself, then, what validates SRCP’s argument for soul salvation in the 21st century on this bonus track from the sessions.

Few bands of the disco era remain as eerily wonderful while remaining enshrouded in their own lore as Black Devil Disco Club, an entrenching italo-disco outfit who, after 28 years in obscurity with only one highly-collectible release to their name, emerged from hiding with a magnanimous sophomore release. Playfully titled 28 After, it’s been on auto-repeat around here for months now. Even more exciting, for remixers and DJ’s, was the release of Black Devil In Dub, a series of extended remixes and instrumentals from the French studio wizards who have kept us all wondering and waiting. Enjoy this treat from their latest release, then go buy it all on iTunes.
