When not running the nascent Italians Do It Better label, home to Chromatics and Glass Candy among others, Mike Simonetti finds the time to squeak out a few other gems. I can find nothing about The Sundowner, but I love the tracks on this 12″. The titles and artwork for these tracks seem to be aping on the hyper-commercialization of electronic music, all of which is fair game. As someone who’s managed to get his music out without the help of huge conglomerates, Simonetti’s work has always held it’s own against an ongoing tidal wave of consumer-heavy electronic sounds.
Three tracks from The Sundowner are about to drop on vinyl & if you’re a fan of house music, acid house, minimalist techno, making fun of huge DJ’s or any of the rest of the stuff in this post, you will probably love this, too.
