
The MTV O Music Awards will take place June 27th and 28th featuring an historic 24-hour stream of music awards and mayhem as The Flaming Lips attempt to break Jay-Z’s Guinness World Records® title for Most Live Concerts In 24 Hours. The series of 8 concerts will be held in 8 different cities, beginning in Memphis, TN at Handy Park rolling through 8 cities and finishing a day later in New Orleans, LA.
Special guests will range from Grace Potter & The Nocturnals to Neon Trees, Gary Clark, Jr., Hunter Hayes, Givers, Neon Indian, Grimes and others yet to be announced. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, June 8th (Friday) and can be purchased through the individual venues listed here. Partial proceeds from show will be donated to VH1’s Save the Music Foundation. The entire awards show, special appearances and extras will be streamed live on OMusicAwards.com
During the 24 hour live stream, 24 awards will be presented. Fans can vote now via OMusicAwards.com in a wide assortment of categories that include Must Follow Artist on Twitter, Best Online Concert Experience, Most Adorable Viral Star, Fan Army FTW, Best Music App and Digital Genius Award. Voting for these awards kicked off on May 23rd and has been going strong.
The newly-created awards show is a family affair, collectively supported by all Viacom’s networks including MTV, VH1, CMT & Logo. According to our press release, “O Music Awards were created to spotlight the diversity of music across digital platforms and provide fans a touch point to discover emerging artists that span multiple sounds and genres. Past shows have been springboards to launch artists including Foster the People, Mac Miller, Chiddy Bang, Matt & Kim and Alabama Shakes.”
